On our attempt to try new places, we headed out to Chelsea Kitchen. Been reading lots of good stuff about it and it gave hubby a chance to drive the Porsche. We got there early, about 5:30 and there was lots of parking. Valet hadnt started yet.
There was a 30 minute so we chose to sit on the patio with no wait. (Hey, I live in Arizona because I love the heat!) We were quickly brought large glasses of water and told the specials. Hubby decided on the salmon special and I wanted the pan fried chicken I read about. When the waiter came to take the order, Hubby asked what he recommended. He order was quickly changed to the beef short ribs.
In less than five minutes, our orders came out. Yes, we were surprised. There were 4 short ribs over mashed potatoes and root veggies with a wine reduction sauce. Unbelievably tender and flavorful. The chicken was a leg, breast and thigh of a small free range chicken with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies (cauliflower, mini zucchini). Very good. Very tender.
We decided to order dessert. The waiter recited our choice and I selected the chocolate cake and hubby got the mud pie sundae. Here is where I had a small problem. Cake had nuts in every layer and was served with peanut ice cream. Luckily hubby tasted the ice cream first because I am allergic to peanuts. I think the waiter should have mentioned the ice cream with peanut allergies being so prominent. Hubbys sundae had vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce and whip cream. Chocolate sauce, nuts and sprinkles were on the side.
Dinner came to $58 before tip for 2 entrees and 2 desserts. Definitely a great meal, great service and I liked seating on the patio by the canal.
