Sorry for being so slow getting this thread started.
22 Chowhounds (and one chowpup) enjoyed dinner at Chef's Wok -- a Hong Kong/Cantonese restaurant in Alameda. I preordered some dishes and then each of the two tables added dishes from the menu and wall specials.
The pre-ordered dishes:
Combination appetizers: paper-wrapped shrimp, BBQ pork made from the hog jowls, Japanese baby octopus
Chicken stuffed with sticky rice
Steak cubes with green beans in XO sauce
Black bass steamed with ginger and scallions
My table also ordered:
Salt and pepper squid (not on the menu, we requested it and they were happy to make it)
braised tofu with vegetables
stir-fried water spinach with garlic
