Bodega Oyster Cult opened today, Saturday March 31, a new project from Chef Mark Malicki. I'd heard rumors about it and visited him two weeks ago to see what was up.
This is the soft opening menu he'll offer this weekend.
Bodega Oyster Cult is a pop-up, a revival of the oyster barbecues that would be offered in the summer on the Casino's patio. However, as one would expect, Malicki is taking it to a whole new level.
The original plan was to open on April 1. But on the damp and cold day I visited, Malicki said he would wait until the weather would be reliably warm and this weekend's warmer forecast has given him his opening. His St. Patrick's Day trial run had been shut down by a hailstorm.
Malicki will be cooking over open fire with sustainable, local provisions.. Here's his new barbecue pit.
Besides smoked and grilled dishes, the display case will have a raw bar selection.
Bodega Oyster Cult will be open during fair weather months, approximately April through October, on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 9pm. This doubles the hours of service for enjoying Chef Malicki's cooking at the Casino.
