Actually St. Marks Avenue - this week, the long promised french bistro - on St. Marks Avenue at the triangle between 6th and Flatbush - landed with minimal fanfare. It is St. Marks Bistro, and is led by chef Johannes Sanzin, formerly of Bouley, Souperman, etc. etc. Unprepossessing from the street it is actually a very stylish space with elegant carefully prepared food. Our zucchini flower with spicy crab, served in both appetizer and entree size portions, left us exclaiming over its deliciousness with every bite. Our other dishes were less amazing, but still delicious and carefully conceived and perfectly executed.Prices were very reasonable for this quality of cooking, apps maybe $6-9, mains say $17, sides maybe $4, No liquor license yet. What an amazing step up our restaurant-deprived Prospect Height/N. Slope nabe!
