Chef Christopher Lee Returning to Bay Area!

This week's communique from Petaluma's Thistle Meats brought the exciting news that Chef Christopher Lee will be coming back to the Bay Area to take over the business. As a customer since it first opened three years ago, it has been hard for me to read the fond farewells to key initial employees (especially Kent Schoberle) as they've trickled off to start new ventures and it will be sad to say goodbye to founder Molly Best. The announcement brings dreams of turning what is already a great local butcher shop into an even better market in this next phase driven by Lee's experience and passion.

His East Bay fans will be happy to hear that he promises pick-up points in Berkeley and Oakland. And there will be a crowd funding opportunity.

I loved Lee's crepinettes served at Kermit Lynch's Oyster Bliss in years past. The rabbit crepinettes have been one of my favorite things at Thistle Meats. I can't wait to see how this piece of sausage craft evolves at the new Thistle.
