Cheesecake Factory

I naively posted this to someone who was more advertising her own website (the great review on the site for Los Olivos in Scottsdale should have been a clue), so it got removed along with the original post. I do want to thank Pat Hammond and the crew for making sure these boards stay clean. Without vigilance like theirs, this community wouldn't be nearly as good as it is now.

And now, the repost:

I stopped in at the Biltmore Cheesecake Factory for a slice one day and have no idea what the fuss is about. The cheesecake was good, but I can't remember the last time I had a bad cheesecake- even the horrifically underbaked mess I turned out of my oven around Thanksgiving was still good despite being closer to cream cheese pudding. It's just not worth the six dollars they charge for a slice. I remember having better cheesecake at the Coffee Plantation (this was a while ago so the recipe may have changed) for about half the price of what Cheesecake Factory is offering. Better still is the whole cheesecake from Trader Joe's. It's not quite as good as the Cheesecake Factory version; but at 8 dollars for a three pound, fully baked cheesecake, it's definitely the better way to go.

OK that's it on the repost, here's some other thoughts I've had since the original post.

I'm sure someone else one this board has been there at least once- is everything else the same way? I've seen their menu and am stunned by how much there is, and have also heard about the massive portions. Is it really worth twelve bucks for a salad they nearly have to bring out in a wheelbarrow?
