The Country Maid Bakery in Northbrook used to have a cake style cheesecake. I had thought that was "New York Style", but I was apparently misled. A search for recipes on the web confirms that NY style is the heavy "pie shape" style a la Sara Lee. A search for recipes specifying NOT "New York" helped, but still most recipes were for the heavy style. I looked for "cheesecake cake" but that mostly found pages where cheesecake and cake just happened to be juxtaposed, as in a list like "...cookies, pie, cheesecake, cake, pudding..."

I only found 3 recipes on the web, two lemon (one from scratch, one adding to a mix) and one blueberry. Country Maid had 5-8 flavors every day, rotating through a much larger collection.

Is there a name for the cake style?
