The Cheese Stands Alone

Though I have only been to The Cheese Stands Alone once, it made a good impression. Small shop, friendly knowledgeable owner, selection of interesting cheeses and reasonable pricing. I bought an excellent blue cheese at Matt, the owner's, recommendation that I had not had before and was impressed with the deep rich flavor and, just verging on too stinky, aroma. The cheese was Cabrales from Spain and was wrapped in Walnut leaves, I highly recommend this cheese to all blue cheese lovers.

Though The Cheese Stands Alone has a small write up in todays Trib Good Eating section it seems, at least to my eye, the type of business that unless conscientiously supported by cheese loving patrons will not be in it for the long haul. I intend to shop at The Cheese Stands Alone early and often.

The Cheese Stands Alone has the added benefit of being catty-corner from Spoon Thai and less than a block from Joe, The Sausage King's, sausage shop.
