Cheese plate worth it's salt

paigela | Sep 13, 2003 09:49 PM

I am dying for a decent plate of cheese, a la french (dessert) cheese course. For all it's schmaltzy french restaurants, I can't seem to find a reasonably priced french restaurant that does this well in this damn town. New Heights does a wonderful cheese plate, but I want a recession-friendly option. We ordered the cheese plate at le Gaulois in Old Town and I was insulted by the safeway-caliber brie and utterly cottage-cheese like "goat cheese" they had the gaul to serve among stale crackers...i want the smelly stuff with a real baguette s'il vous plait!
