I finally got out to Flushing last night with a friend and made a beeline for Prince St. and the Octopus Man. If you're a fan of octopus and you're in striking distance of this very special treat, you really should get out there. We waited perhaps 15 minutes for our order because the briquets needed to be replenished, (he uses hickory chunks) but there's no rushing this process anyway. The skewered baby octopus are turned many times on the grill before salt, sauce, and the spicy powder is added. But boy, is it worth the wait. Tender, juicy, absolutely delicious bites. Betcha can't eat just one!
It's on Prince St. between 38th and 39th, in a lean-to attached to the front of a restaurant called something like People's Seafood.
