Okay everyone - I'm throwing a small-scale, fund/awareness raising spaghetti dinner next week and funds are pretty scarce at the moment. What are your dirt-cheap but tasty spaghetti sauce recipes? Right now I'm thinking canned tomato sauce, salt, basil, parsley (both dried) and possibly some Italian seasoning.
I would go with a traditional red sauce since I'll be cooking for a fairly non-gourmand, college-age group of people.
Meat is an afterthought but if we end up with extra cash it's a possibility.
