Looking for cheap, dirty, delicious food suggestions (first Jazzfest weekend)

bjeinerson | Apr 20, 201509:23 PM

Headed up from Tampa to NO for jazzfest this Wed. Been to nola a few times, in my opinion best city in the US. And there aren't many cities that come close with the silly good food, music, and most importantly atmosphere you can't get anywhere else.

I'm looking for suggestions on where I can get fed the best. Not looking for classy, I plan on leaving shirt and tie at home.

Don't know what kind of response I can expect to get, but maybe I can guide it by what I'm looking for:

- Crawfish boil (by the water would be cool)
- BBQ shrimp (not shrimp but hit up "the joint" last time I was there, just gdamn wonderful)
- Muffuletta (gf's favorite)
- Anything else unique or delicious. Weird is good too

Places I've loved: the joint, jacques imos, killer po'boys, taceaux loceaux

Please send me right. I'm staying on frenchman, so walking distance is cool, but for some good eats I'll travel anywhere within an hours drive. I know the hesitation to share a local gem with the internet, but I'd cherish the experience.

ps. I know these conversations don't work this way but if anyone would like suggestions in the Tampa Bay area, I'd love to share.
