I've searched through previous posts regarding London, and none of them seemed to answer my specific questions. Please forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere:
We've just decided (yesterday, in fact) to take a very quick trip (3 full days) to London, leaving on Mar 3. We found cheap airfare, and have a free room at the Hilton Kensington by using my Hilton points. My strategy in London when I was there about 2 yrs ago (when the $ seemed weak, but we didn't know just how far it would drop) would be to fill up on the big English breakfast offered at my hotel, and then just head to some nondescript noodle shop in Chinatown for an early dinner. (I could keep belaboring the point of cheap, cheap, cheap if needed, btw!)
I plan to do that again this trip--with the exception of grazing at the most excellent Borough Mkt around lunch time--but I need to know other good, cheap eats, either centrally located or fairly near the Hilton. (If this helps for location, we're mostly doing a gorge ourselves on museums trip, including the Nat'l Gallery, both Tates, Sir John Soane's, etc.)
And, my husband, who's never been to London, is looking for some mythical place with jolly good fish & chips, and meat pies . . .
Also, If anyone knows of anyplace serving food from Laos, we'd be grateful. The same goes for anyplace serving decent Trini rotis or doubles.
Any suggestions/advice to this somewhat unfocused post will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Ellen
