Just came back from Chau's Kitchen, which just opened up across from Hawaii Market on Valley Bl. The sign outside says claypot porridge is their specialty, but when I went inside they told me they only served porridge at dinnertime. They then gave me their lunch menu, which had a grand total of four items, consisting of combinations of shrimp, chicken, rice and noodles. I ordered the sour chicken noodle soup. The soup was definitely sour, though clear, and it came with both chopped up Chinese chicken and chicken balls (made like fish balls). The noodles were rice noodles, but not like what we typically see in Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants. Instead they were reminiscent of rice noodles you see in Guilin or Kunming. Anybody care to venture what regional style this place is serving?
