Chateau Marmont area recommendations...

ene | Jan 6, 200304:21 PM

Greetings to the West Coast from the Third Coast. Though generally not the sort to partake of indulgences such as this, I am to visit Hollywood shortly (last weekend in January) for a rather opulent one day (Saturday) stay at the Chateau Marmont. What I hope to make a tradition of staying at the Chateau Marmont for one day a year began last year at this time when I was attempting to consolidate my Gram Parsons/Charles Bukowski/John Fante/Henry Miller pilgrimages in one and found myself, before I knew it, making a cottage reservation though not particularly being able to afford it. So, one year later and the “Chateau Marmont Fund” in tow, I am returning, primarily to enjoy the novelty, to a lifelong Chicagoan, that is a 24 hour a day outdoor heated pool. Given the length of time of my visit (arriving at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, flying out 4:00 p.m. on Sunday), I am curious as to what Marmont-area restaurants might be recommended for a day of complete and utter laziness. Is Musso’s a once-in-a-lifetime must? Are there any area breakfast possibilities for Sunday? My last visit was marked by a wonderfully memorable visit to All-American Burger and a delightful conversation with a rather lusty transvestite professional dressed impeccably as a military nurse and an equally delightful burger, but thought that perhaps I would venture somewhere a bit different this time. Any recommendations for a 30 year old single girl who loves to people-watch would be most appreciated. Thank you all very much!
