Had a GREAT dinner at Chat Noir last night. Started with a beer flight, which featured the alcohol heavy Delerium Tremens (9% ABV). Then moved onto the seafood platter piled high with fresh oysters, prawns and the best lump crab meat I have had in a while (blue crab). For our entrees, we all ordered the hanger steak and asked for the three sauces (peppercorn, bernaise and gorgonzola) to be brought out in saucers so we could sample them.
The steak itself was much thicker than I expected since it was about an inch and a quarter thick! The meat was perfectly cooked and didnt require any sauce since it was so juicy and flavorful. The sauces werent that great, though the gorgonzola had some things going for it and made a great dip for the bread and fries.
The steak came with the best pomme frites I have had. Thin, crunchy, not oily and sprinkled with parsley. Just superb!
Best part was that since it was a Tuesday night, all the "bar entrees" were 50% off! My steak was under 15 bucks, as was the seafood platter, really a bargain. The "bar menu" features about three quarters of the regular menu, so it isnt your typical nachos and wings.
Wines by the glass were a little expensive at $12-$26 and the choices were pretty limited.
