Charlotte Observer Reports - Charlotte will soon have a new player in the organic and natural grocery market, as Whole Foods Market announced Wednesday – for the second time in six years – that it's coming to town.
The upscale grocer has tantalized Charlotte shoppers since at least 2004, when the company first declared it was entering the market with an Elizabeth-area store that eventually fell through.
Now the company has signed a lease for a 42,000-square-foot store at Fairview and Sharon roads in the mixed-use Ashley Park development. That's diagonally across from SouthPark mall and near Phillips Place
