Wow! Just returned from a 4-day visit and truly loved the city! Stayed at The French Quarter right in the middle of everything. We took a carriage tour of the historic district with a very knowledgable guide. The architecture of the churches is phenomenal and the historic district is not to be missed.
Visited Charleston Cooks, an up-to-date cooking store with a cooking classroom right next to the store.
Lots of shopping and the market runs three or four blocks right through the middle of town. This is a flea market sort of but with new products, not used. Candy stores on every block.
The restaurants were fantastic. Dined at Magnolias on my birthday which was very good. Meritage the next which was my favorite because there was such an assortment of tappas on the menu (all tappas) and a fun place to have a leisurely meal and drinks. McCrady's the next evening was fantastic and the building a must to tour. So much history....
Really enjoyed the Rooftop Pavilion Bar where you can see the suspension bridge and great views of the water.
Can't wait to return with my three sisters to walk, drink & dine! A great get-a-way for an anniversary, birthday, girls long weekend or family vacation.
