Charleston, SC and HHI restaurants (long report)

OK, I am prepared for all you foodies out there to throw stones at me but we were in Charleston, SC 2 weeks ago and had breakfast at the Hominy Grill on a Sunday. From all the folks here, I had a built up expectation of yummy home cooking. SORRY, that was NOT the case. I ordered scrambled eggs which came dried out and chopped up, greasy bacon and a biscuit which tasted like it was leftover from the previous day. I had food poisoning most of Sunday afternoon, which didn't sit well on our harbour boat ride. Did we catch them on a bad day?? Raves for other places we ate: Dinner at Blossom was very good, although A/C was not working up to snuff. The fried shrimp were huge and very tasty. Breakfast at Saffron, a bakery/coffee shop was very good and very reasonable. We had a great meal at California Dreaming, on Ashley Point Dr. Their creamed spinach and prime rib was truly delicious and very reasonably priced. We scored a waterfront table just as the sun was setting and it added to the pleasant ambiance. Lunch at Ollie's in Beaufort was good too. The theme for our dining seemed to be fried shrimp and they didn't disappoint. I had heard it had gotton bad, but we had a reasonably priced tasty lunch. In HHI, we breakfasted at Stack's several times, inexpensive and good food as well as Gruby's NY Deli. Dinners to remember were at La Famiglia, a tiny Italian place, and Alligator Grille ($$).
