Had a really top notch meal at McCrady's. I hate to over rate but this was on the level of Gotham Bar and Grill (N.Y.C.), or Gramercy Tavern (N.Y.C.). Eleven of us and every dish was excellent. I had oven roasted Chilean Sea Bass which was served in a huge white bowl lined with a thin layer of lobster bisque ,then fingerling potatoes, sautéd leeks, and the sea bass stacked on top. The quality of this fish was exceptional,as was the Alaskan Halibut which I sampled from another person in our party. I'm guessing that fish of this quality came from Brown Trading Co.in Maine,the same purveyor that Charlie Trotter uses. For desert a moleten chocolate cake(kind of a cross between a decadence cake and a chocolate souflee with a liquid center) was as good as it gets with carmel ice cream.
We also ate at Magnolia's which was good but not as good as the hype.The appitizers were the best part. I expected more from the deserts after perusing through their cookbook and reading about made from scratch southern specialties, but they were just mediocre.
