My mother, step-father and I are heading to Charleston Dec 25 - 27. It will be our first visit and they're giving me free rein to choose where we dine. Our options are a bit limited due to timing, but I'd like to hear some opinions on the following:
Dec 25 - We have Charleston Grill, Peninsula Grill and Anson Restaurant as options for Christmas dinner. Charleston Grill is the only one with their Christmas menu listed on their website, so I planning to choose that (we'll also be staying at Charleston Place). Is this the best of the three choices? In particular, reviews of Charleston and Peninsula seem to run about neck and neck so I'm not sure what to pick.
Dec 26 - Hopefully Hominy Grill is open today for breakfast/brunch. We'll likely skip lunch or just have a snack as I've made a reservation at Husk for dinner.
Dec 27 - I'm checking with mom but I think that we'll only be eating breakfast in Charleston before driving back. Not sure where to go? I just realized that maybe we should have breakfast at Hominy today and Sunday brunch elsewhere?
A little about us: I grew up a bit south of Richmond, where mom and step-father still live. Currently I live in Toronto and visit NYC fairly often so I'm looking for a dose of southern food more than anything else. Mom prefers seafood and lighter menu choices while step-father is a bacon-and-eggs/steak type man. It's a special occasion, so price isn't too much of a concern - I figure maybe two upscale choices and keep everything else moderate or cheap.
