P. F. Changs - A disaster

I was a big fan of PFC when it first opened. I found the dishes all very fresh and flavorfull with a great variety on the menu. I went frequently (Santa Monica location) and was always pleased. I was thrilled when they opened the Woodland Hills location (alas at the loss of Bob Burns). I went there often fighting the crowds and long waits and higher than normal Chinese food prices.

It wasn't too long, however, when I felt the quality was declining and the qualities described above no longer valid. It was no longer worth the wait. The drinks were extremely expensive as was the food.

So I wrote PFC off my list and haven't been back for quite a while now.

Due to the rain and other concerns, I met a friend (at his request) at the WH location.

It was a total disaster. I got there about 5:30, was seated immediately (not too busy yet). After siting there for 5 minutes (my friend is always late) the waiter walked by and said he'd be with me in a minute.
After 3 or 4 minutes I got up and told the hostess I wanted to be seated at a table where I could get some service.

She very politely seated me on the other side. The manager came right up and asked if he could start me with anything. He brought me the wine ordered, at $8.25 a glass and only half full (empty??).

My friend arrived and we ordered. I told the waitress I wanted my dressing on the side. The salad came with dressing on it. My friend ordered brown rice, received white.

The hot and sour soup was okay, edible but not exciting. The Sesame dressing for the salad had no hint of seasame, was basically oily and tasteless.
The schezuan chicken was like deep fried and very oily.
The eggplant also lacked any flavor.

To top it off, I told the waitress I'd to take the remaining salad home with some dressing. I got home, no dressing. The waitress was very nice and friendly, just not competent

All in all, not a pleasant experience. I will not be back, no matter what the circumstances. I'd sooner eat at the fast food court in the mall next door.

It was hard to believe that when I left there was a crowd (in the pouring rain) waiting for tables!!
