Last Saturday I stopped by Tierra Vegetables farmstand located on the north end of Santa Rosa. If you've not been there for a while, Tierra moved into a barn last fall.

The scent of strawberries perfumed the atmosphere inside the barn. This first crop of strawberries are the Chandler variety and they're magnificent. Very juicy, richly flavored, highly aromatic, tender, and enough acidity to keep the jamminess from being cloying. They're $5 per pound. The aroma of strawberries still lingered in my car the following day.

Russian River Valley had a scant bit of rain on Monday. Don't know if that affected the berries or not. Once the Chandlers are done, Seascapes will be up next at Tierra.
