A Challenge to Outer Boro Chowhounds (warning: tantrum)

The latest Difara's thread is digressing...thank heavens...into discussion of OTHER pizza places in Brooklyn. As I've said, I don't mind people talking about Difara's on a continuing basis, so long as it's honest talk and not nasty. But I'd like to raise a challenge both to those who talk about Difara's all the time as well as to those who bitterly deride the Difara's talk:

The Outer Boroughs of NYC are the richest, most diverse and delicious chowhounding turf on God's green earth. If there were fourteen postings about Difara's per HOUR, they should be BURIED in an avalanche of delirious chowtalk. Yet we're a nearly dormant community, with far, far less activity than the Manhattan board. This really, truly bugs me. We are not scraping the surface. We -- I use the first person plural because I, too, am an outer boroughs hound -- SUCK. This board STINKS (as a broad assessment; no disrespect for the handful of diligent hound posters).

The only reason this board seems like "all Difaras all the time" is that we're so damned lazy; there's nothing ELSE to read but the slow drip-drip-drip of errant Difara's postings. And this is just egregious, seeing as how there's so much fantastic food all over the place here. The boroughs are AWASH in it. I built this forum as the first-ever clubhouse for people like us, and it bums me out to see it used so wimpily!

I've been editing the Los Angeles edition of chownews this week, and getting immersed in the talk on that board. Those guys are awesome; they're out there checking stuff, they're helping each other with info, they're digging down and finding resources and working with incredible efficiency to methodically psyche out the best eats in town. So...why not us?

I'd rather not start a long thread re: what's wrong (or if anything is indeed wrong) with this board. Rather, can we be chowhounds? I suspect (just a hound hunch) that a lot of people are eating a lot of stuff they're not telling us about. I'd like to ask ALL board participants to start one thread about their latest discovery, even if so trivial as a slightly-better muffin. Let's help each other, let's inform each other. Before Chowhound, we didn't have any way to clue each other into stuff. Let's not squander the opportunity!

Please let your reply be chowtalk; that's needed...for the benefit of ALL of us! We're MISSING GOOD STUFF because we're not using the network!

I don't have a lot of time to post these days (working too hard to keep the site up and running), but I vow to step up my own posting here as well. I'm going to focus on it. I hope you'll join me. Sorry I got mad.
