Challah and kosher deli food in LA

Dave M.P. | Dec 28, 2003 10:59 PM

Hi there,

I'll be coming to LA (for the first time ever) in 2 weeks (on a Friday, midday) and will be driving in the mid/late afternoon from LAX to Pasadena. I would like to find a couple of things:

a) A good challah. If I needed to order it ahead of time, that'd be ok, although I'd rather just be able to go get it

b) Good deli food for take out. Kosher meat would be preferable, otherwise a place that has both meat and vegetarian options. Other good kosher deli stuff would be great too, like knishes, etc. Someone mentioned that place in Burbank in a post below, is that place really kosher? (sorry i forget the name right now)

I suppose that these places could be anywhere in between LAX and Pasadena, and I will have a car and do not really have any time constraint (except that I have to pick everything up on Friday afternoon and I do not LOVE sitting in traffic). I can go a bit out of the way if it is worth it (I am a chowhound afterall....)

I'll probably be posting with more questions soon (this is only day 1 of a 9 day trip)

Thanks a lot from a Boston 'hound,

Dave M.P.
