Cha chiang mein?

Jamieson S | Nov 5, 2003 11:41 AM

I am very fond of a noodle dish at Yu's Mandarin in Schaumburg which they call "Peking Noodle". It is a bowl of homemade noodles, with a black bean sauce with bits of pork, shrimp, onion, water chestnut, etc in it. Basically resembles very thick dark (near black), slightly chunky motor oil over a bowl of noodles. I love this dish but cannot find it locally (aka in the city or Chinatown). A friend at work mentioned he orders a dish at Moon Palace called "Cha chiang mein" that to him sounded like what I am looking for, but is not on the English menu. I am hoping to go out there this week and give it a go, but in the meantime, anyone have experience with this dish? Any places that do it exceptionally well (or that do it at all) in the city (Chinatown or hopefully Ukrainian Village where I live but that is asking a lot)? ;)
Thanks for any help!
