Went for lunch at the new cevicheria called Ceviches that is in the old location of La Chilenita. For some reason, I thought I had heard about it here on the board but now I am not sure? Maybe under new openings? I asked the waitress which ceviche she enjoys and so had mixed seafood with passion fruit and avocado. The avocado would have been my first choice for a topping anyway, but I was very happy with the passion fruit flavour. I've eaten a fair amount of ceviche and aguachiles in Mexico in the past year or so but this marinade was the best I've had by a long shot. It came with a lot of crunchy things like plaintain chips, puffed corn. We also had some fried calamari and shrimp but those really became a distraction from the delicious ceviche. Will go back to try the fish sandwich and empanadas in order to find the right balance for a good inexpensive meal. It's a great concept, low carb and high in slurpy protein. They also sell a handful of interesting groceries too, a bit like Chinoiseries and Dumplings. So it is a great addition to the neighbourhood. There seem to be alot more interesting lunch options available around here these days, with brunch at APDC, Saturday dim sum starting in May at Su Shian Yuang. And a container of ceviche now and then will hit the spot as well, especially in the summer.
