Centro, another hip new place arrived in Midtown a while ago. The owner is the chef from La Vecchia, who really upped his game when he moved from Virginia St. to his current location on Skyline. The menu at Centro is eclectic featuring small(but not too small) shareable plates. We were with another couple and were able to try a large selection of items-most were outstanding.
Highlights were quinoa falafal with cucumber yougurt spread, icky battered anchovies with herb aioli, crispy brussels sprouts with bacon, vermouth and caramelized onions, sticky thai ribs with centro kimchi, pork belly miso braised, and espresso braised short rib. I believe I've left out a few others.
The only misses were the house hummus, watermelon salad(mostly greens but little watermelon), and filthy bastard fries(too thick, not crispy-more like fingerling potaotes).
They have an interesting craft cocktail list and a nice selection of wines by the glass.
We all agreed to return and try everything else on the menu.
