Central Sierra - best bets?

Tom Hilton | May 20, 200205:41 PM

Ever year I lead a group backpacking trip in the Sierra. Every year, I have the same dilemma: where to go for the after-trip meal?

This time, it has to be somewhere between Madera and Shaver Lake (Highway 168), which doesn't yield a whole lot of options. Still...anybody know anything in, say, Prather? Or some place in Madera that would justify a short detour for the SoCalistas?

More generally, I'm curious about any decent, moderate-to-inexpensive places in the Sierra (including foothills) between the southern border of Yosemite and Highway 198 (General's Highway, in Sequoia NP). Anybody have any tips?
