Celebrating Remission NYC Style - Need Rec's

Schpsychman | Jan 10, 2008 09:51 AM

My wife and I will be visting NYC again from Philadelphia in February (15th and 16th). It is a little get-away from the kids and a way to celebrate 5 years of my remission from cancer. It is also a special get-away in many other ways so needless to say we are looking forward to it. We will be there 2 nights and want one dinner to be inexpensive and relaxed and the other to be more expensive and memorable. Focusing on the latter, what suggestions do people have for something that is: romantic and stylish (but NOT a scene and not stuffy) that serves creative fare (of any type)? By NYC standards I am shooting for something moderate, say $200-250 including tip and wine (if that is indeed moderate?).

Places we have been in the past and that we have liked include Blue Hill, Eleven Madison Park, Kittichai, and Le Gigot. I really am open to anything, any cuisine and in any area of Manhattan (we'll just take a cab to get there). I am not up to date on the Manhattan dining scene by any means. Any thoughts on Po, Annissa, Tabla? I know I need to made reservations soon. Thank you very much, there is no place I'd rather celebrate than in NYC!

PS I am also open to places that might be worthwhile in Brooklyn as well (we'll be staying across the river).
