Cedar Key restaurants, trip report

gatorlover | Nov 29, 200411:25 AM

Returned from weekend in Cedar Key and, as promised, am reporting on restaurants. I had read numerous posts on a Cedar Key message board about the unfriendly and slow wait staff at most restaurants. We were, however, pleasantly surpised at what friendly and efficient service we received for the four meals we had. Lunch at Frog's Landing was good. Excellent crab cake sandwich and husband enjoyed his fried shrimp. Dinner that night at the Island Hotel was excellent. I had sauteed grouper and shrimp (nothing is fried there)and husband had mouth-watering grouper pecan. The kitchen was backed up but the service was very attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere there. After dinner we peeked in the bar where we had heard good reports on the bar food and it was packed. Great band and it looked like a fun place to be. Lunch the next day was at Ann's Other Place on Dock Street. What was lacking in atmosphere was made up by the food. Excellent crab salad with fried pita chips along side. As it was a cold, rainy day my husband opted for the special - chili and grilled cheese - and was very happy with it. Dinner that night was at the Island Room at Cedar Cove. Very good salad and I very much enjoyed the blue crab special. Husband's shrimp from the regular menu was excellent, also. Next time we'd like to try T&S Seafood and the bar at the Island Hotel. Highly recommend Cedar Key for good food and a very relaxing time.
