Ceasar's Den in Baltimore

James | Jan 21, 200203:43 PM

After the Poe Birthday celebration I & 7 others went to Ceasar's Den on S High St in little Italy. Overall I'd have to say that it was about what I expected. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. The service was relativly good although occasionally absent, the wine (we chose a $25/btl red) was pretty good for the price. The dishes all in all were certainly acceptable, the Osso Bucco was a little off (the sauce came out orange!?). The was a Veal Silician (stuffed w/cheese proscutto, and herbs, wrapped w/veg and baked) was good and large enough for a big eater without being obscene. Gnocci with gorganzola sauce (presentation sucked, wht plate, wht pasta, wht sauce, no herbs, no garnish), but was tasty none the less (lessee, potato, blue cheese, garlic, cream, hhmmmm hard to go wrong). The seafood pasta of the night was generous and attractive (well studded with shellfish and shrimp). An All turf mixed grill was on the special list. Like I said; all appropriate, not too overly priced, and very much old school Italian. Entree's ran from 13.50 (vegetarian) to 30.00 (turf specials). Again? Yes. To impress, hmmm not-so-much.
