Catch - Meatpacking district, can of sardines anyone?

We dined at Catch on Saturday evening and never before have I been as uncomfortable as I was in their main dining room.

Yes I know it's the holiday crush and space is at a premium all over, but squeezing multiple tables of 6 (using pop up leaves) into a space that is tight for multiple tables of 4 was the worst I've ever seen. The occupied chair of many 6 tops was wedged in between adjacent diners at many 4 tops. Extremely overcrowded.

Food was excellent. Much maligned service was very good and we caught the hostess team early in the evening so we were seated on time.
