Casual Dining Dilemma

TrishUntrapped | Feb 17, 2005 10:29 PM

A group of 6 of us are coming in (via car from CT) Saturday to see The Gates. I have heard the city will be jampacked.

I have not yet resolved the "where to park" issue. I have at least however, convinced the person driving to park away from Central Park and we'll take the subway in. Any advice on where to park would be VERY appreciated.

Which leads to the dilemma. Don't know where we are parking...don't know where to start looking at these Gates...don't know what time we'll be done... and don't know where we'll be when we are done...

So where should we eat dinner? Price is not an issue, however we will be very casually dressed. Because we don't know what time we are eating, I can't make a reservation, so preferably need a place that is not impossible to get into on a Saturday night.

Ideal situation...Eating somewhere near we are parked so we can scoot on home from there. Not opposed to taking the subway somewhere for dinner, just not lower Manhattan please.

My first thought was to park somewhere near Patsy's in East Harlem. But the driver asked me a good question.... Is there a safe place to park near there? A parking garage or something. And I don't know. Please help.

Any chowworthy suggestions are most welcome. Thanks.
