Cast Iron Skillet - patchy seasoning

I've been carefully working on seasoning my 12" Lodge cast iron skillet. But my results have been mixed. In the center, I mostly have a nice, slick, non-stick area where it's well-seasoned. But around the edges, there is still a rough iron feel.

Any advice about how to build up the seasoning more evenly? Or will it just take time?
