Cast Iron Skillet

I've posted this question before and have yet to receive an answer.

I have a several years old Lodge, purchased new, used off and on...never seems to produce the desired result in cooking with... but I digress, one of these days something like cornbread with turn out perfect with practice.

I usually scrub out the hot pan with hot water and a scrub brush and lightly oil with mineral oil and a paper towel. The paper towel always comes out blackish-gray. Is that normal???
