Went to The Left Bank in Larkspur for the first time the other night and had a very disappointing cassoulet. Seemed as though the bean base was cooked separately from everythng else--then pieces of sausage and duck were laid atop the bean mixture before the whole thing was put under a broiler. The result was dry and not terribly tasty. I'm used to (and greatly prefer) the whole shebang being cooked together, so flavors mix into a rich, moist casserole.
so....any thoughts on a great spot for cassoulet?

BTW, their mussels were quite good--I probably should've heeded the advice of previous posters and gone for a lunch of mussels and wine, and left if at that.

(Geez, I sure hope asking about French food doesn't land me on some kind of watch list...)
