New place on 2nd ave and 80th st
my review from that other site:
Small, 20-25 seat, upscale taqueria on the upper east side. High concept tacos, at a decent price. Only had one type of taco and one side dish, but those were enough to get me to want to explore this menu much further. so yeah - 4 stars - i'm a fan.
Yeah the tacos here cost more than at a taco truck or up in spanish harlem. but are a cut above n concept, and seriously even if they are 50% more expensive it's still only $3.75 per taco. (served in orders of 2)
I had crispy tuna tacos with hearts of palm/olive/onion which were really tasty. maybe a touch , and I do mean just the slightest touch, underseasoned, but given they 4 very decent salsa's at the table, it was no issue at all. There was a tomatillo, a roasted tomato, a house hot, and a diablo hot. All had very different flavor profiles.
I also had a bowl of quinoa and black beans with queso fresco as a side dish, very very good stuff, and this was well seasoned indeed.
some things i look forward to: SHrimp tacos with garlic/chili oil/black beans. carne asada with oyster mushrooms, carnitas with roasted chili de arbol. there are a bunch of interesting looking sides and starters too - gorditas, grilled corn with aoili, lime chili, and queso, chorizo, etc, and some larger plates too. add to that a small, but interesting beer list (including negra modelo on tap) and this is a good vety casual, quick place to go.
I met the owner out frnt a few days before it opened, and for what it's worth, he was very friendly and happy to see me come in, and seems to be a good cat.
