Carving the Pumpkin and Knife Selection

Setting the scene. . . you have 2 pumpkins to be turned into Jack-o-lanterns, which knife do you reach for for carving?

This year one of our pumpkins had flesh over 2 inches thick, so carving the face my 6 year old wanted was challenging. I have a wide variety of knives from fancy to beyond basic so curious what others used. I used a combo of a 5 inch utility style "homemade" knife from my dad and a very old 6 inch slicer as it was my narrowest blade.
