getting cartiledge off of chicken tenderloins

How do you do it? Or do you prefer to leave the cartiledge in it? From what I've read, I understand that you're supposed to take a knife and scrape the long rubber band-like piece of cartiledge off as best you can. But I find this difficult. Is there any other way?
