How is Carriage House in South Bend?

Bada Bing | Mar 29, 201001:32 PM     3

I'm supposed to schedule three small-group dinners in a casual business setting, at three different places, in South Bend area, Indiana. Typically we use Lasalle Grill, NOMA, sometimes Uptown Kitchen or Main Street Grill.

I hear very mixed things about the new incarnation of Ciao's--my first thought for a new item, because it used to be excellent food--and maybe that's a separate thread. Right now, I'm wondering what to do when some colleagues suggest Carriage House. I've never been there. But the history on Chowhound Boards is not at all kind to the place. The gist seems to be that it was once a great French outpost in the countryside, but since then it's been an overpriced joke. Again, I cannot speak from experience. Any input?
