Carney's-First Time Since 1998

Well it was Valentines Day, night actually and so I needed to take my true love out. My first choice had been URASAWA for the much posted about 43 Courses of Deliciousness. But my true love won't eat raw sea creatures. C'est la vie!

Where to meet? She's heading home towards Santa Clarita from Malibu and as we usually meet at Sherman Way Thai restaurants and I wanted to take her to a new spot, a place that she had not dined at before, so I decided to meet her at Carney's for the also much posted about chili dogs etc. Tommy Tang ordering in front of us with his signature doo rag. Never tried his place but that is off topic!

Round 1: I ordered a Carney's Hot Dog $3.20 con todo, chili, brown mustard, tomato and extra onions (hey it's Valentines Day er night)! I can't remember my last chili dog before this but this version is very tasty, slight snap to the dog meat casing and all the flavors meld well. Date had Chicagoan Hot Dog $2.50 sans relish and onions, brown mustard only. She reported that it was very good and also had a nice snap (to the casing).

Round 2: Still hungry, I ordered a Chicagoan Spicy Polish, split and grilled, con todo, brown mustard, relish and onions, which was delish as well. Nice flavor from the grill.

Immediate desert, shared a freshly dipped in chocolate frozen banana.

Delayed desert, asst. cupcakes from Ledas.

I used to always order burgers at Carney's. Next time I'll check out the 1/2 pound burger, if they will cook it rare!
