I just had to pass on a fantastic use for the crock pot. All credit goes to Lora Brody for this recipe from her book "Slow Cooker Cooking". I bought three pounds of sweet onions (Walla Walla I think) at TJ's. Peeled and sliced them, then dumped them in the crock pot with a stick of butter. Turned it on low and went to bed. All night the house was filled with the most delicious smell imaginable. And 14 hours later, I lifted the lid to find absolutely perfectly carmelized onions. I will never go back to the old way.
