I've been reading about this place in NY Mag for a couple of months and my husband & I were in the neighborhood, last night, so we stopped to get a cheesesteak. It's on 3rd Ave, near 34th Street.
May I just say "Ugh!"? For my $8, I was expecting a good amount of meat, a healthy goop of Cheez-Wiz, and a roll that had some crust to it. What I got, instead, was less than a half-cup of unseasoned beef (where's the salt?), a smear of cheese, and a roll that couldn't stand up to cold, dry tuna fish, let alone a hot, greasy beefy mess.
I think I'll stick with the barely-passable cheesesteak at the Papaya King on 23rd & 7th (?). At least it comes on bread that doesn't turn to mush, has salt & pepper on it, and has 4 slices of melted american cheese.
