Carbon Deposits on Calphalon pan

chicgail | Feb 17, 2008 05:38 PM

I have an 8-inch Professional Nonstick Calphalon skillet that has some pretty heavy carbon deposits from burnt on grease. The carbon is partially peeling and the Calphalon folks indicate that that there's nothing peeling off the pan, itself, but I haven't figured out how to clean it.

Can I use an SOS pad? I know it's not supposed to go in the dishwasher so I guess oven cleaning is out. Has anyone successfully dealt with that problem?
