I made this cake yesterday as part of my continuing efforts to conquer caramel and butterscotch (it's a tough job, but someone has to do it).
I followed the recipe as written, other than using ap flour and cornstarch because I didn't have cake flour, and splitting the cake into 2 layers so I could put some of the caramel glaze in the middle. It's not the prettiest thing I've ever baked - doesn't help that I split the cake unevenly and the bottom layer crumbled at the edges - but boy is it good. The cake is moist and tender and not too sweet, thanks to the buttermilk I think, and the caramel is delicious. Definitely one I will be making again.
Any other recipe suggestions for my ongoing caramel odyssey?
