Capt. Scott's Lobster Dock, New London

I posted a thread below entitled "New London: Fred's Shanty or Capt. Scott's Lobster Dock?" and received recommendations for Captain Scott's. So we decided to eat an early dinner there the Sunday before Labor Day and we really enjoyed the location, seating, and parking ease compared to Fred's Shanty. The food was pretty similar-- we ordered what we usually have at Fred's Shanty: I had a fried scallop plate, and hubby had fish and chips, and the food was tasty and comparable to Fred's. I would probably try a lobster roll next time since the ones I saw folks ordering looked good, but I was saving myself for lobster rolls on Cape Cod where we were heading for a week's vacation the next day. The picnic tables under the pavillion were very nice and we enjoyed the view of the marina on one side and a train going by on the other. Had Giffords ice cream cones for dessert which were pretty good, too.

I have to say that finding Captain Scott's was a little tricky, in spite of the directions and map we'd gotten off Expedia. We were nervously laughing as we came down the back street and saw the sign ahead for the Lobster Dock, but it really felt like a seedy, sort of scary area until we turned the corner and saw Captain Scott's building and picnic tables, along with the marina.

Thanks for the recommendations and we will certainly look forward to eating there again the next time we're in New London.
