the Cappuccino muffin from Fluffy's cafe&bakery (7th Ave bet 54&55th) is one of my favorite muffins now.this place is totally uninspired looking, but the muffins are pretty good.I think they use conventional
commercial mix, but somehow they manage to make pretty good muffins.the cuppuccino muffin is particularly good, little pieces of chocolate in side are nice kick. $1.75.
the Sun Shine muffin from Clinton st Baking Co (Clinton & E houston) is another my favorite.since they renovated a little, they added more sweets&cakes, and the sun shine muffin is one of those new menu(I think ).it's lemon & orange flavored muffin with nice iceing -lemon&orange flavor- on the top.also the vanilla yogurt muffin is another good one from the new menu.their the original muffins -smaller one- are always good, since they've opend.
