Cape Porpoise Chowder House

Don Lindgren | Jan 7, 2004 08:38 PM

The Cape Porpoise Chowder House, at the end of Pier Road in Cape Porpoise (ME) was demolished yesterday. The town says it will be rebuilding and ready to re-open by the late Spring. Let's hope they rebuild it in the style of the old chowder house that stood there before. For those who might not know, it's a classic lobster/chowder/fried seafood place, sitting on the edge of the lobster pier at Cape Porpoise (Kennebunkport, ME). The food is not amazing, but it is consistently good. The paprika laden crabcakes are a favorite of mine. You can see a short movie of the demolition at the attached link.
