We went to Cape Mendocino Tea House after checking out the Cape Mendocino Lighthouse & noticing once up the flight of stairs in the Lighthouse a Lunch sign. The Tea House is across the street - we had to go.
It was a bit cold when we went so it was nice to be inside to have lunch. I got the Captain's Tea $14 - Tea of your choice, bowl of soup & bread, dessert. I got cornbread which the guy told me was homemade. Tea was a tea bag - I picked Darjeeling. I liked it ok. Ask for milk if you don't get it.
Dessert: I picked Scones w/ Clotted Cream, Lemon Curd, Jam. Best Scones Ever! She told me she just puts more Buttermilk then most recipes call for. Now you all know the secret to Tender & Moist Scones!
Teas: Pot holds 3 cups worth! That's a lot for one person, didn't finish the pot of course. Have to do that evil Shelter Cove drive out of there!! Glad it's mostly Uphill.
B. got Shepherd's Pie w/ Beef. He liked it. I found the frozen veggies meh, mash potatoes nothing special, beef - I tried to avoid.
Cornbread: Suppose to be an Emeril's recipe - but I didn't care for it, reminded me of bananas which I don't like much.
Soup: It was a Thai Coconut Soup I think, can't remember. I liked the broth, didn't care much for the shrimp/rice part. B. liked it so gave him what I couldn't finish.
I'd go back to try maybe the sandwiches & get more Scones or Pecan Pie (homemade).
Credit cards taken. Single bathroom in the back down the hallway to the Left.
